Still Not Great

Sunday: Nothing.

Monday: Not counting Chi Alpha large group meeting, nothing.

Tuesday: I just explored for a little bit, reading from Matthew 5, my study Bible’s introduction to Hebrews, 1 Corinthians 14 and Galatians (which we started a series on in Chi Alpha). I especially liked Galatians 5:13 – “For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh [sin], but through love serve one another.” (ESV)

Wednesday: Nothing.

Thursday: Luke 22:68-23:49. In small group, we talked about the lead up to and ultimate death of Jesus. We focused a lot on how amazing the act itself was, but also about the other people involved in the story and how we relate to them. I thought a lot about the three criminals in the story (Barabbas, a murderer who is released in exchange for Jesus and the two unnamed convicts who are crucified next to him). Like Barabbas, we all deserve to die, but we are set free by Jesus as he takes our place, and like the criminal who accepts Jesus on the cross (see Luke 23:40-43), in that although we may have to suffer the consequences of our actions here on Earth, we only need to have faith to be saved.

Friday: Isaiah 43. God is the only, all-powerful God and the only one who can save them.

Saturday: Nothing.
